Third Annual Fabulous '50s Weekend in Wildwood, NJ - October 20-22, 2006

Want to drive your cool classic car on the boardwalk? (YES, on the boardwalk) Like to wake up early and walk the beach at sunrise? How about cruising through neon lit 50's style motels? Maybe a short cruise to get some crab or lobster in Cape May among the many Victorian houses? Please look into attending this event. If you are into 50s music, nostalgia, or even just cool cars, this weekend long event is not to be missed.

Welcome to the
Keystone Garage Club Website. Below are details about the weekend I attended in Wildwood, New Jersey. It is a very cool weekend getaway and I would recommend it to anyone. Much of the information (and the logo above) has been quoted from the official 50s Weekend Web Site for a description of THIS year's event and will be displayed in quotes below. The pictures following the quoted event information have been taken by myself.

Quoted from the official Web Site:

"Our autumn extravaganza returns with a Jerry Blavat Record Hop, a free Street Fair with live entertainment and vendors an all-star show with Philly's own film-TV-stage star James Darren, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge; the Platters, Joey Dee and the Starlighters, and the Shangri-Las.

The third annual Wildwoods Fabulous `50s Weekend, October 20-22, 2006, is a celebration of Wildwood's unique role in music history. Philadelphia's own film-TV-stage star James Darren will headline the Fabulous `50s Rock and Roll Show on Saturday evening, October 21, 7pm, at the Wildwoods Convention Center. Also appearing will be Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, The Platters, Joey Dee and the Starlighters, and the Shangri-Las.

"The Geator," Jerry Blavat kicks off the weekend again on Friday night, October 20, 8pm with the Fabulous `50s Record Hop. More than 3,500 people danced to the sounds of the `50s and `60s with the Geator last year.

Jerry Blavat rocks the house at the Friday night Record Hop.On Saturday afternoon, the Fabulous `50s Street Fair features the Legendary Charlie Gracie, the Magnatones, Master of Ceremonies Lou Costello, World-Class Elvis-Tribute Artitst, Michael O'Connor, www.worldclasselvis.com, Love Affair, food and merchandise vendors, classic cars, and a celebrity impersonator. On Sunday, October 22, 1pm, in North Wildwood, Danny and the Juniors and the Dovell's will be appearing.

The schedule is subject to change.

There were classic cars everywhere in Wildwood all weekend. We sawe them parked at Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Beaches, on trailers, and even cruising. the only time to see most of them at one place was on the boardwalk at the Convention Center on Saturday Afternoon. I got there as they began to leave so I have a fraction of pictures I should have gotten. It will give you the idea, however, of the large variety of cool rides that show up at the event. The quality of workmanship on any of these restorations, originals, or customs was amazing. They even had a news team interviewing owners for the local news...
