GC Members all receive 1st place trophies @ Wiconisco Fire Company on May 18, 2008:
Sunday, May 18, was the day the Wiconisco Fire Company held it's annual classic car show at the
firehouse parking lot. Since there was no rain date we headed up for the event. Even though it continuously rain,
there were still quite a few GC members who showed up to brave the weather. Registration went from 9:00 AM until
noon at which time the owners were supposed to judge each others cars. While waiting for the judging to start,
we were all glad that they had the firehouse open to hang out in a dry place and get some refreshments. They had
a DJ inside spinning the tunes and some pretty good hamburgs and other treats. Everyone even walked away with a
door prize.
Noon approached and the rain continued. We were told that we should only attempt to pick one car out of all of
the rest. This car was going to get the "Best of Show" award. With such a small turn out, the other judging
was abandoned and everyone who attended left with a first place trophy. They awarded two special awards, the "Best
of show" and the "Fireman's choice". "Fireman's Choice" was the '30 Ford Antique truck.
"Best of Show" went to an Infinity G35. The Garage Club netted 9 first place trophies. There was quite
a crowd just waiting for some burnouts when the cars left, but were disappointed. None of our guys wanted to chance
it in the rain.
All in all, it was still a day to relax and socialize with some die hard car buffs. Held every mid May, watch for
