* = Movies I have in my video library.
| * "American Graffiti" (One night of cool customs,
hot rods, street racing, and immature hyjinks. What more could you want. In my opinion,
the greatest cruisin' classic of all time!) |
|
* "More American Graffiti" (Follow up about four
of the original characters told in four parts. Cool top fuel scenes.)
* "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry"("One of the BEST car movies....has
a 1968 Charger RT." submission by Doug Monahan)
"Bullit"(Steve McQueen kicks ass driving this Mustang in the chase
seen. Heard Ford just put out a limited replica of this car.)
* "Two Lane Blacktop" (The ultimate street drag racing film that is
more about a race across the country to win a girl.)
"Mad Max" (Get the american version. The voices just don't sound right
in the original "down-under" version.)
"Road Warrior" (War over gas to fuel their blown and Nitrous injected
jalopies. Mel does it again.)
"Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" (Mad Max becomes a pawn in a decadent
oasis of technological society, and when exiled, becomes the deliverer of a colony
of children.)
"Heart like a wheel" (Somewhat true story of Shirly Muldowny")
"Last American Hero" (The general story of the beginnings of NASCAR)
"Blues Brothers" (Honorable mention for the awesome cross country
car chase, a motorhome with the gas pedal stuck to the floor, and hundreds of smashed
police cruisers.)
* "Corvette Summer" (Customized "right hand drive" Vette
done in high school shop class goes missing)
* "On Any Sunday" (Documentary on motorcycle racing legends like
Malcom Smith or Kenny Roberts and celebrity racers like Steve McQueen.)
"Gone in 60 Seconds" (Movie about stealing 50 cars in one night.
Cool Movie. Angelina Jolie, woo-hoo!)(The original movie from the late '70s is also
great!)
"Hot Rod" (The all-time drag racing classic. When drag racer Brin
Edison wrecks his hot hemi-powered plymouth just before a big race, he drops the
salavaged engine into a willys coupe creating the ultimate HOT ROD. But, there's
trouble on the track when he runs up against a corrupt sheriff and the town boss
who has rigged the race to ensure victory by his own son)
"The Fast and the Furious" (Illegal street racing, blown wheel-standing
mopar rolling over, nitous oxide, blazing fast imports, chicks... At least it sounds
like a winning combination.)
"2 Fast, 2 Furious" (Street racing is back doing things cars cannot
possibly do and continue to run)
* "Vanishing Point" (An ex-racecar driver gets high on Benzedrine
and leads the police on a hectic chase in a 1970 Challenger to prove he can cross
the country in just 15 hours. A bit of trivia, the car smashed at the end was actually
a Camaro, I'm to understand.)
"Death Race 2000" (Great movie! Sylvester Stallone in his younger
years. Object - race across the US and kill as many people as possible on the way.
Points system based on age and sex of the victim. Classic "B" movie.)
"My Science Project" (High school auto shop loser with a blown GTO
finds an alien power source that turns the school into a time warp. Get this, he
has his blower activated by a swith on the dash when he wants it.)
"Christine" (Highschool geek Arnie Cunningham falls in love with
"Christine", a bright red 1958 Plymouth Fury which has seen much better
days. However the car is possessing him. John Carpenter makes a film of this story
by Stephen King.)
"Catch me if you can" (High school badass races his chevelle to
raise money to save his school. Loads of races and cool cars.)
"Born to Run" (Richard Greco street races his mustang to get out
of debt.)
* "The Italian Job" (1969 version, coolest Mini Cooper car chase)
* "The Italian Job" (2001 version, cool Mini Cooper car chase as
well, but with a little more story than just the heist.)
"Grand Theft Auto" (Ron Howard and girlfreind steal a Rolls to race
to Vegas to elope. Movie's Tagline: "See the greatest cars in the world destroyed!")
* "Gumball Rally" (Funny movie about a cross country no holds barred
race that inspired a real event held anually.)
"Biker Boyz" (Motorcycle street drag racing exagerated to the max.
IMO: Kid Rock's Harleys are the coolest bikes in the movie.)
"Little Fauss and Big Halsy " (A story of two motorcycle racers,
the inept, unsuspecting Little Faus (Micheal J.Pollard) and the opportunistic, womanizing
Halsey Knox (Robert Redford).)
"Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" (1974 Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges car
movie..one beautiful early 70's white Trans Am)
"Return to Macom County" (Early Don Johnson car movie. Car chases
& women...)
"Grindhouse presents - Death Proof" (2007 - Two separate sets of
voluptuous women are stalked at different times by a scarred stuntman who uses his
"death proof" cars to execute his murderous plans.)
"Winning" (1969 - Story of an Indy car racer and the problems that
arise in his personal life through dedication to the sport. Starring Paul Newman.)
"Grand Prix" (1966 - American Grand Prix driver Pete Aron is fired
by his Jordan-BRM racing team after a crash at Monaco that injures his British teammate,
Scott Stoddard. While Stoddard struggles to recover, Aron begins to drive for the
Japanese Yamura team, and becomes romantically involved with Stoddard's estranged
wife.)
