I had my Spyder at the shop for an inspection and general check over. As I was looking at the Dual exhaust, I noticed that behind the left tail light was the intake for the airbox. Not only that, but, It had a major restriction where it joined the fresh air intack at the wheel well.

After pulling out the tail light, I measured the outside diameter of the airbox inlet and the fresh air duct. Both measured to about 3 inches outside. I remembered we stock some old air intakes for older air cleaners and look through them till I found the size and length I needed.

I pulled out the old junction tube by removing the one plastic screw holding it in place and twisted it so it would slide right out from the both intake peices. Then I worked the 3 inch tube into the position the original tub was installed. I used a very large tie strap to fasten the tube to both nthe airbox and the fresh air inlet.

In the third picture you can see just how much this part restricts the air going into the airbox. I didn't want to go with the aftermarket cold air intakes because I want it to remain stock looking and functioning.

The final picture of the page shows what the new tube looks like when it is finished. The entire cost for this modification was around $9.95 or so. Power gains are minimal to say the least, but in my mind it shoud actually work better this way. I'll try it out for a while and see.
