I don’t have room for everything that happened, but highlights included Beaver Bob having some fun for the evening as well. He seemed to be pretty good at picking out who to match up against in his supercharged Mercury Marauder. here he is pictured after winning a race with 5 passengers in his car! They were all smiles in the back seat. That car really screamed.

John Shultz gets the hard luck award when he had a valve drop at the bottom end and had to be towed in with the quad. Melissa Aungst and Rob Lefever tied for the high mileage award. I think they drove more miles racing each other than they did driving TO the track. Jim Manganell gets the Pro-Grasser award. He even switched lanes before the 60 foot light! Thanks to Beaver Bob for everything! Everyone had a great time with lots of food, drink, track time, and cool people.

June's Garage Club meeting was our annual "Membership Drive" held at Beaver Springs Dragway. Attendance was a bit down due to the rainy and cold weather we were having. It was not looking good even earlier in the day and though we stated to all who asked that the meeting was rain or shine, many didn’t make the trip. We lucked out, however, and the rain didn’t hit us till we were almost home a bit after 11:00.

After a quick drivers meeting, we went over a few future events that the club was invited to attend. First, we are invited to Stump’s Garage for a June 20th picnic and dyno day with the Motor City Forum guys. (More details will be provided in the next newsletter since the event was held just before publication of this newsletter. Second, Jeff Russell and Russell Automotive in Williamstown has invited the club to his anniversary open house just like the Grand Opening the club attended. He was hoping for the 20th, but we already had the picnic set up for that day. He said he would use the 4th Saturday of the month (June 27th) as the day. After the open house members can head out on the Small Block cruise.
We also read the “Thank You” card that the Lear family sent us for the flowers, jacket and card we sent for Craig’s funeral. Once we finished reading the card, a minute of silence was observed in his memory. That concluded the official portion of the club meeting and we all headed for the lanes.
We had some stout rides show up to race at the Beaver after the meeting. I filmed pretty much the whole evening and am working on the video. It will be uploaded to the web site as usual when it is completed at the “Membership Drive 2009” page. Till then, I’ll add some photos about the club’s evening events in the newsletter for you to enjoy.
Stop back in a few days and I will have the Video uploaded to the site. Please enjoy all of the pics below until then.
