Pictured below is Jimmy Lupold's yellow 1926 Model T street rod. Sweet!

Jimmy Lupold is old hat when it comes to pristine iron. Nestled away in his cozy little barn are a couple of show stoppin' street rods. Both these babies are rides a lot of us only dream about.

His 1926 Ford MODEL T coupe was 7 years in the making. Jim devoted many an hour detailing, fabricating, and assembling this Chrome Yellow beauty. But unlike the days of yore, This set of wheels scoots down the boulevard powered by a 355 cubic inch Chevy small block attached to a turbo 350 and finally linked to an independent Corvette rear.

Doors, windows, and trunk are all power remote and with those windows up Jim cranks up the A/C along with some tunes on a CD stereo. Handling and steering is mastered with a K-Car rack and pinion set-up and stainless steel disc brakes coupled to 4 Weld Pro Star wheels and high performance radials. The stainless steel exhaust that sets off the undercarriage tells people along the way that one bad machine is in the neighborhood.

Jimmy drives his '26 to a lot of carshows, many of which are out of state, like Ocean City, Maryland and Rhinebeck, New York.

His other unit is a little different, but just as interesting. Jim also owns a Bright Blue metallic 1940 Chevrolet pick-up. This beast boasts a 350 ZZ-4 crate motor that was reworked right out of the box (Jim feels GM don't supply enough horse power in their over the counter killer street engines).

Shifting is done automatically by a Turbo 400 transmission which is linked to a Ford 9 inch 389 gears and limited slip posi. This one also has all the creature comforts to include A/C & power windows and a CD player. A set of Billet Specialties wheels are attached to the Mustang II front suspension which is augmented with power steering and power brakes.

These units are true mix-n-match machines. Jimmy has selected a wide array of components and pieced them together to make just The right type street rods that suit his taste. And what's really neat is that he drives these machines a lot. To work, on cruises, to shows and who knows, even to one of the club meetings.
