Jim Manganell's '69 406 Small Block Chevelle was put on the dyno for our annual Horsepower challenge Dyno and Garage Club meeting in December 2009. The highest car of the eight vehicle event, Jim was also the first to compete. He had some issues with his nitrous system on the first pass, but once he fixed the power supply issue, he made the highest numbers of the evening.
He and Melvie "warmed" the bottles with the “Ole Skool” propane torch method. When that wasn’t good enough, Jim broke out the acetelyne while everyone kept their distance!
This car laid down a solid 745.88 horsepower and approximately 615.93 ft/lbs of torque. Ryan did give him a third run and we feel that he could make more with a little time tuning.
In this video to the left, Jim Manganell's '69 406 Small Block Chevelle makes his first pass in the 9 second range. Thanks to Chris Fisher for getting this filmed and making it available for us to show on the site.
Below is a video from a garage club meeting Jim hosted at his place in Treskow. Jim arranged some venders to attend and some private property burnouts to keep up with the cool meetings happening lately. There were 60 people in attendance and 2 dozen cars.
