Due to Pennsylvania's new Emmission regulations, my RZ350 needed to pass an emission test. To do so, I need to reinstall an original exhaust system that includes the original catalysts.
.
After finding an original system AND an air injection system on Ebay, I was ready to remove my ALLSPEED performance exhaust. After removing my lower cowl, I could loosen the springs from the front of the pipes and remove the bolt by the footpeg. The entire exhaust lifts right off the bike leaving only the adapters bolted to the cylinders. After removing 4 nuts, the adapters came off the cyclinders allowing me to clean the ports for installation of original system.
.

.
Installation is a bit different than removal. The stock pipes bolt directly to the engine. The trick to installation is to route the hoses for the air injection properly. You don't want the resting on the pipes to burn through. The manual is very helpful in determining routing of hoses and wiring. The last thing I had to hook up were the catalyst temp sensors and control box. Again routing is imperative. See manual pictures for a guide.
.
I actually like the look and sound of the original system over my ALLSPEED. My impressions of rideability were very good. After jetting the carbs, I notice much more bottom end power and smoother powerband which makes it much easier and comfortable on the street. There is a loss on top end, however that I may miss if I intend to run the bike at the track someday. Over all, I am happy with the change at the moment.
