'76 Pontiac Astre Pro-Street

Page updated 5-8-2009

This car was completely redone in Chas' garage by Chas and his son. He documented the process and if you see him, ask to glance at his albumn. The final prep and paint was sprayed by Frank Tankalavage at F&W Auto Body in Williamstown. More details to follow.

Chas Pinkerton was one of our back up cars for our 2009 "Club Challenge" Dyno shootout. 2009 saw the Keystone Garage Club guys beat the Motor City Forums guys (primarily an F body enthusiast site) by approximately 1,000 horsepower total. This was a six car to six car match up. Chas put his car on after the shootout was over since he wasn't needed for the competition. He did see a bit of an improvement over Don's Performance Dyno in 2006, shown below.

Chas Pinkerton was one of our race cars for our 2009 "H.U.F.O." or Heads Up / Flat out street racing event. Chas was great help in the event by helping to assemble the cool trophies we gave out made from old car parts.

Chas Pinkerton was our second competitor at the 2007 Horsepower Shootout at Don's Performance Corner. He ran his '76 Pontiac Pro Street Astre with a 383 small block. We believe Chas had some traction problems, the car seemed to downshift regardless of what they tried, and they analyzed his secondary fuel curve as dangerously lean. This brought them to shut down before a good hp reading could be acheived. Chas was disappointed, but probably benefitted most from the information gained that could very well save his engine from damage and a major increase in horsepower next spring.
