Beaver Bob sent me an email on his new ride. (11-14-2006) Bob said he will attend the January meeting with this cool new ride. Can't wait to see it. Here is his Email:

"Guys,

Here are some photos of my new ride. As you can see it's not the 2007 Shelby that I had ordered. That deal fell through and to tell you the truth, I'm glad it did. I found this car with the help of Charlie Morris (yes, the famous one of 427 LW Galaxy fame) after talking with him at Bruce Larson's on Saturday.

Here's the specs on the car:
First off this car is a real beauty. Second owner, never wrecked, never any rust, all original paint. Seller has all of the original paper work.

The car is a 1963 1/2 Galaxy Fastback powered by a 427 High Riser with single 4 bbl. that breaths through a set of Headman coated headers and a custom exhaust (sounds smooth). It has a C-6 Auto (Fairbanks) with an ATI converter (3500 stall). All of this is backed by 4.11 Richmond rear w/31 spline Strange axels.

All of the driveline is new, to the tune of $10,000. Plus, way too many extra things that you'll be seeing soon. Charlie tells me that the owner has never flogged the car. That'll change soon. Look out!! That big old Ford behind you is loaded for bear!!

I pick it up this Thursday. I'll be cruisin' this weekend.

Beaver Bob sent me an email update today on his new ride. (12-04-2006) Bob said he will actually be able to attend the January meeting. Here is his Email:

"Guys,

Sorry I won't be able to make the December get together because I have to attend the IHRA meetings in North Carolina.

On the 427 Galaxie news side here's what I'm doing this month. It'll all be completed in time to make the January meeting if the roads are good.

  1. I'm just installing a complete front disc brake set up to stop this 4000 lb. Hot rod.
  2. BFG T/A radials all around so it steers better.
  3. Swapped out the 4.11 gears for a 3.50 set up. (with the 4.11s, 60 MPH = 3000 RPM) That's too steep to even have fun with. But, I have the complete center section with a locker and 4.11's ready for Flashback Friday.
  4. I got rid of the Winters shifter and replaced it with a period correct Hurst Auto stick.
  5. I had Jim Stuggert (`56 Ford w/358 Roush/ 4 speed = 10.30's street legal) go over the heads and correct the problem with it smoking. He's the man on FE Fords. He's also worked for Roush and Childress.

Did I tell you that I'm having the time of my life with this car!! Can't wait to see everyone next month.

How about a short video from the January 2007 meeting:
