Andy has just under a handful of cool rides... First up is his '68
Deville Convertible. Talk about a cool Hot Rod cruiser. The engine is a '76 Cadillac
500 cubic inch block, bored to .030". It has 7" forged H-beam rods w/ Probe
forged pistons. The cam is a Comp hydraulic stick 232/237 @ .050 and .547 lift. The
heads are '68 Cadillac 76cc chambers with 2.19/1.84 valves and port work. The heads
were also machined to accept small block Ford stud mount 1.7 rockers. All this was
topped by an Edelbrock Performer Cadillac intake, stock HEI, Holley 850 with vacuum
secondary carburetor, and a NOS cheater plate. The stock exhaust manifolds were retained
and flow into a custom dual exhaust with Flowmaster 50 series mufflers. The drivetrain
includes a stock 2.94:1 caddy rear gear, an original TH400 with a shift kit, and
a rebuilt, 2400 TCI converter.
Power was measured at 422 rear wheel hp with 565 rear wheel torque on a 180 hp nitrous
shot. The car weighs 4900 lb weight with me in it yet still got best E.T.s on street
tires of a 14.16 @ 98.5 (on the motor), and a 13.41 @ 108.4 (while using the bottle). |

Next up is Andy's 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. This car is a front wheel
drive, 500 c.i., stock grocery getter w/ 90K miles on it. Andy tells us that this
ride is for sale. Want a big cube, big boat cruiser? Give him a call. |
| Andy's project vehicle is a 1971 Chevy C10 2wd cattle truck. Andy
states" This is a frame off project I started about 2 years ago…..with a long
way to go. The truck's lowered 3" in the front and 4" in the rear. There
is a 12 bolt rear with bolt-in axle conversion using 9" ford ends, Eaton posi,
and 3.42 gears. The powerplant is planned to be 472/500 caddy motor with TH400, but
my newfound love for the LS1 engine is becoming hard to neglect. A carbureted, 400c.i.,
stroked, LS1 engine could find it's way in there." |

Finally, this is Andy's 2004 Pontiac GTO powered by a LS1 & 6
speed. It also has a Magnuson 112 supercharger, Kooks 1 7/8 headers, a Magnaflow
cat back exhaust, alcohol injection, and a GM LS7 clutch. Power? It's got 435 rear
wheel hp & 435 rear wheel torque driving it to an E.T. of 11.925 @ 116.7 with
a 1.69 60' time. Impressive! |

| Andy states, "I completed the Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week event
this year in my silver '04 GTO. The photos are specific to my car....but the 1320video.com
website has tons of pictures and videos from each day for all the participants." |
"This is a very grueling event for a car...I made at least 45
passes in 5 days, as well as 900 miles during the week, and 1600 miles driving out
and back from the starting location (Cordova Illinois). Lot of fun was had, lots
of beer was drank, and no parts broke!
I participated in "Daily Driver" category, which included about 70 cars.
At the conclusion of the week, they took the top 32 fastest cars (based on your average
for 5 days) and put us in a ladder to bracket race. The dial-in for each car was
their average minus 0.1 second.
I ended up completing the week with a 12.33 average (some sandbagging was involved).
My best pass of the week was a 11.925. My dial was therefore 12.23 for the bracket
race.
I ended up winning 3 rounds and then losing in the semi-final. My car may or may
not make the magazine, but it should be on newstands around Feb/March of 2008. To
be honest, there were many cars way cooler and much quicker than mine, so, I wouldn't
be surprised if I don't make the cut. But that wasn't really the motivation for going
anyway." |
