Atlantic City. It was a real shame when they moved the car auction
to the new convention center. (in my opinion) Sure, they have more room, more cars
each year, and the quality of the vehicles has definitely been improved. The only
thing that has degraded (meaning the show itself) is the flea market section. You
can buy any kind of cell phone cover or beanie baby, but the people parting out cars
or the big auto restoration product companies don't seem to show up anymore.
Don't get me wrong, however, they DO have some good stuff there, but be prepared
to HUNT. (I personally picked up some cool sixties dragstrip advertising posters.)
That said, the old convention center seemed to have more history, more ambiance,
definitely more seats. The new place doesn't have any. Well, I will climb down off
my soapbox and get on with the show. There were a lot of very nice rides this year.
The coolest part is that they are ALL for sale at the auction or in the car corral
with a flat price. Following, I have pictures of some of the cool cars that caught
my eye. Most are not your usual, but we can all see camaros and mustangs around here.
I almost forgot to mention, Carrol Shelby was actually there. Yes, you heard me right.
He was signing autographs and even auctioned off one of his personally owned cobras
for his favorite charity. Heck, a jacket he autograph to the person who bought it
went for close to 2000 dollars. The person, then, got to have his picture taken with
Shelby. Cool.
