2005 Tri State Spyder Club (T.S.S.C.) Meet
New York

(Mine is the silver one, the second from the left)

(Pictures to follow event write-up)

Organized by Spyderchat member and T.S.S.C. president and founder Richard Adelmann, The "Tri State Spder Club is only an e-mail list for communication about the MR2 Spyder and meets. The Google e-mail address for our group is spyderclub@gmail.com . Please include in your response your full name and if you wish, the name of your significant other, your address and phone number. If you have sold your car and can give us the new owner’s information that would also be appreciated. You may be confident that your e-mail address will not be sold or given to anyone but will remain within the club. If you do not have e-mail but wish to be included, or if you wish to speak with either Joe or myself, you may call me any time at 845-742-2751 or Joe at 845-541-1234. You may also visit the T.S.S.C. web site at

Richard and his wife Kathleen (pictured below with their yellow hard top) went all out to provide the Spyder owners with the T.S.S.C.'s first MR2 Spyder get together on Sunday August 14, 2005 at an Orange County Park in New York. The physical address is Orange County Park/Thomas Bull Memorial Park #217 Route 416 in the Town of Hamptonburgh New York. They reserved for our exclusive use the boat house on a small lake. It has a meeting room, a kitchen with stove, frig, sink, bathrooms, and air conditioning. They also provided plenty of food, door prizes, informational material, and games with trivia questions. Several members brought other collectible material to put on display. (I think my remote control MR2 Spyder crashed into every ankle there.) Some of us even tried to help fund the event in some small way, but were turned down insistantly by Richard. Thanks Richard!

After the event Richard wrote everyone the following letter about the event. (I have added somewhat with items in Italics and parenthesis):

"Hello Again Spyder Enthusiasts,

We had great day with a good turnout for our first ever TSSC event on August 14, 2005. The final tally gives us 16 Spyders and 1 second generation turbo but that doesn’t tell the whole story. We had 34 people which included 10 couples! We almost had several more cars but for some bad luck.

Bill came all the way up from Cranford NJ on his motor cycle because his Spyder has a noise in the transmission. Warren came all the way from East Stroudsburg PA in his Civic as his Spyder was still in the body shop after a traffic accident. Chris had an engine failure only a mile from the park and had his Spyder towed all the way back to Carmel, NY which involved pretty much the whole day, but he did get the vegetable platter delivered! Joe called late Saturday afternoon trying to find a hotel in the area and was not successful and did not make it. S-M e-mailed Sunday morning after I had left the house needing the location and I missed it and he did not make it either. That would be 5 more cars which would have made a total of about half our e-mail list at that time.

I would like to thank my significant other Kathleen for all her support and help. Thanks also to my friends Bob and Debbie for their help in too many ways to list and of course my daughter Maria. Everyone forgot the two big watermelons we had on ice which would really have been good in the heat because it was a hot day.

Clayton, who is in his 80’s, came with his yellow Spyder, god bless him. (He never had his top down till this event when we showed him how to put it down)

Conan’s red turbo 2zz spyder was a big hit and many of us got a ride.

We had Janet and Charles, a couple, each with there own Spyder and Janet out shown all the men by guessing the part from the Spyder and winning a small model MR2.

Dan and Barbra won the door prize, a 1/18 scale MR2 Spyder.

Denny and Melissa came all the way from Pine Grove PA which I think is the greatest distance of anybody but correct me if I am wrong. They also brought along a remote control Spyder and a good book on the MR2 called Toyota MR2 Coupes & Spyders by Brian Long. If you type Brian Long into half .com you will find it as I did for less than $30. (Richard even gave me a miniature Silver Spyder as a prize for it)

We had all the Spyder colors represented except for Phantom Gray Pearl and Paradise Blue Metallic! Five of our sixteen cars were from less than 20 miles away. Six of the sixteen were from spyder chat.

Someone was asking about used Spyders and Dan called after the event seeing a black 2001 at the Saturn dealer on route 23 in NJ between Riverdale and Wayne and there was a silver 2001, on the board at the meet, located in Milford PA, call Lisa and Ken at 570-296-2063.

If you have some good pictures you would like to share please e-mail them to richardrichf1@earthlink.net and we will put together a group of them as someone in the club has offered to host them.

We now have 51 Spyders on our e-mail list which includes people from Virginia and Maryland as well as NJ, NY, PA, and CT.
Please keep in mind that all on this e-mail list share it equally and anyone can create an event or road trip and promote it. Everyone who signed up on this list did so to find out about events with other Spyders so don’t be shy.

Sincerely, Richard for the TSSC
