Circuit Saturday's LAST "Small Block" route of the 2007 year:

Pics from the Small Block Circuit Saturday ---> 10-27-2007
This month's "Small Block" route was one of surprises and some controversy. All of it added up to fun. Due to the Halloween weekend, some members showed up in costume. Chris Ives went all out making his Olds wagon a"hearse for the evening with a real coffin and a suit so scary, the kids wouldn't approach him. Rick Wetzel's white '55 Chevy cruised around containing an "escaped felon" who was being pursued by a "police woman" complete with her own nightstick! A nice surprise was when Dennis Kowalski's Pro Street Monza, which was out of commission since the "Treskow Incident", made it's GC debut return to the street at this cruise event. Glad to see this cool car is back!
The turnout was very good and everything went well. The controversy happened after the Boardwalk stop in Gratz. This month the Boardwalk was closed but we had permission to continue stopping. Things have been getting a little wild and this month was no exception. I was told that there was even a full blown pro street drag car that showed up, did a burnout that set the smoldering rubber on fire, and made a full pass into Gratz. There was some drag racing, more burnouts, and I heard about some M-80s being thrown.

This prompted a phone call to member Butch Markel from the owner of the boardwalk. (She only knew him personally as a member of the club and didn't know who else to call.) She stated that she has been threatened that the cruise problems have been taken to the Mayor, who then threatened to get the state police involved. We do NOT want to cause problems to a business owner who supported us throughout the year, so we MUST cool things down or we will not be welcome there anymore. Our apologies are conveyed to Ginny Reed for these issues, and I think a personal apology in person from a rep(s) of the club is in order.
Thanks to Marlie and Michele Whitcomb for the pics from this month's event since I had to work. See everyone next year at the usual days, times, and places when we start things back up in March!
