Over 500 cars show at Kauffman's Chicken:
Welcome to the Keystone
Garage Club Website. Kauffman's Chicken, a restaraunt located
in Bethel, is well known for it's very tasty chicken dinners. The restaraunt is always
full and the fund raising trailers are always busy at local fire companies and other
events. When you go to Kauffman's for a relaxing evening, some good food, maybe an
ice cream cone or a game of miniature golf, you won't be disappointed. With a count
of over 500 cars, it looks like they can do more than chicken right.

| Registration was from 8:00 to 12:00 so there was a wide range for
arrival. Judging began immediately after. You can opt to check the "Do not judge"
box on the entry form if you aren't interested in being critiqued. Souvenier dash
plaques went to the first 250 vehicles, so I figured I'd get one no problem if I
showed up around 9-9:30 or so. My car was number 303 already at that time of the
morning. |
| Being in class #1, 1900-1930, Melissa and I had a front seat view
of the 4, yes that is 4 registration lines and 2 pre-registration lines. They had
runners taking the paper work and plenty of people working the tables. That meant
that you didn't have to leaave your car and the wait was relatively short to enter
the show. It was kind of cool to go through the registration lines because there
were a lot of people who parked the lawn chairs right there to watch everyone come
in to the show grounds like a parade. |
Other Garage Club member's who showed up that day included Dave Lehr
with his '56 Chevy Gasser. Want to talk about turning heads when a car came on the
field through registration, Dave took care of that! Bill Schoffstall's nice f-100
cruiser wound up with a third place trophy. Another member who came to the event
was Eric Reifsnyder in his all original '70 1/2 Camaro. Click on the show board for
some interesting reading. What a find! Moe Garrison was at the show and signed at
at car number 502. I didn't see his ride, so I didn't catch a picture of it. I'm
assuming he had his Firebird there, which took home a trophy. Above you can also
see two other members who came to the event, but stayed off the showfeild wiith their
rides. Doug Garrison brought his '56 Olds and got a prime parking spot on the pavement
at the restaraunt. Eric Erb's blue '69 Camaro is also pictured. He was in the upper
field next to the show cars almost next to Dave'ss '56.
The classes were all full. I think there were twenty '55-'57 Chevys in Dave's Class.
There were around 9 trucks in Bill's class, and we were up against 7 other pre-'35
vehicles. |

Dave also had aa photographer with him when he showed up. The arrangments
were made for him to photograph some local models with cars around the event to make
up a calendar for the owner of Kauffman's Chicken and the sponsor of the event. Looks
like we'll have to pick one of them up.
Here you can see them in front of Dave's Gasser and behind Bill Schoffstall's pickup.
They had some fun with the owners as well, by posing with them for a picture. |

These pictures are a couple scenes from the event. There were cars
covering the entire field, there were people minature golfing, and the restaraunt
was open for business. It is a very scenic and relaxing place to spend the day. I'm
looking forward to next year's shows already. |

I only photographed two vehicles that weren't GC
member's rides. These two vehicles really caught my attention. The old flat track
bike to the right brought back some good memories and the Shelby to the right is
a twin to the 2+2 Shelby look-a-like I am currently building. Boy, I can't wait till
that one is done!
