"Getting the engine running"

No, it isn't an April Fool's thing. I am actually working on getting the engine cleaned and running. I started by steam cleaning the engine and taking of the items not necessary to run. I plan to build a stand with wheels an will use it to store the original when we switch the engines.

The dirt, grease and hardened oil seems to be like tar. It is extremely hard to remove. A "Steam Jenny" works wonders on an engine. I figure getting it clean before we start it will help me see leaks and make it easier to handle. Besides, we have to clean it eventually. The bottom two pics show I need to do some more scraping as the oil has hardened like road tar after 70 years of use. I'll get to work on that and the stand next. Check back as the process moves on!
